Barford
Built 35 years ago our Barford site is one of the earliest commercial farms in the UK and it still enjoys possibly the best fish farming location in the country.
Due to its extensive nature and low stocking densities the farm was one of the first in the UK to be awarded Organic Status which it retains to this day.
The crystal clear Hampshire Avon supplies water filtered from its chalk reservoir on Salisbury Plain. So reliable is the sponge effect of the chalk downlands that production has gone unbroken though drought and flood for 35 years.
Over 100 extensive gravel ponds form the 50 acres of growing area for Brown, Rainbow and Golden trout together with an increasing number of Common, Mirror and Koi Carp.
Extensive sedimentation areas and environmental control procedures ensure the water is returned to the river in excellent condition.
