TRAFALGAR
FISHERIES is one of the earliest commercial fish farms in the UK,
with more than thirty years experience in Salmonid production. The farm
is situated on the banks of the Hampshire Avon, in the Avon Valley south
of Salisbury and is an integral part of Longford Estate. The land immediately
adjoining Trafalgar Fisheries is farmed by Longford Farms Ltd.

Longford Castle
|
The
Majestic Longford Castle, country seat and the home of the Earl and Countess
of Radnor, stands proudly upriver from the fish farm and dates back to the
1500s. Originally, like the fish farm, the Castle and the Estate were founded
by the Radnor family. |
|
The name Trafalgar
stems back to an original gift from a grateful Nation to the heirs and
successors of Horatio Nelson after he was killed at the battle of Trafalgar.
Trafalgar House, a beautiful building, still overlooks
the farm. This house is in private ownership, and important concerts are
held there on a regular basis.

A Wiltshire Tradition
For over 30 years Trafalgar Fisheries have supplied fresh trout to well
known British and International wholesalers. Having gained the EFSIS accreditation
at the highest level, the farm uses modern processing techiques that set
high standards of hygene and quality control. Fish are reared in a traditional
way that also ensures top quality.
Top Quality
All Trafalgar trout are reared in the clear waters of the Hampshire
Avon. Fish are stocked at a low-density in natural gravel ponds, allowing
them to swim freely and mature naturally. Oxygen levels of the flowing
water are monitored continuously. The Trafalgar Farm site is a haven for
many species of wild life.
